Read it out loud.
We're listening.
TalmudMorah listens while your child sounds out the Aleph Beis, tells them right away when they have it, and hands them a faster ride every time they finish a tier. Built for kindergarten through fourth grade.
Ten tiers, two scripts, one road. Scroll to see where it goes.
Tier 1 of 10
Bicycle
Your first five letters
Every letter is the same three beats
A child who can read the light can play this without being able to read the instructions.
Get ready
The letter comes up on the sign ahead. Not sure of it? Tap to hear it said out loud first.
Read it out loud
The light turns green and the microphone opens. Your child says the letter, the sound, or the word.
We check it
Right, and you drive on with the stars to show it. Wrong, and the sign flashes so you can try again — a grown-up nearby can always wave a good read through.
Two scripts, two lanes, no waiting
The Aleph Beis runs right to left and the ABCs run left to right, so the vehicle drives the way the child reads. Each lane has its own ten tiers and its own progress — nobody is stuck behind their English to get on with their kriah.
Aleph Beis
right to leftLetters, then the look-alikes that trip everyone up, then nekudos, then real words.
English ABCs
left to rightSet in Andika, a typeface drawn for beginning readers, so an l is never a 1 and an a is the a they were taught.
What you get, as the grown-up
- Say it the way you say it
- Sephardi, Ashkenazi or Chassidish. Each child is scored against the pronunciation they actually hear at home and in class.
- Test the microphone first
- A self-test that tells you whether the mic is working before anybody gets frustrated at it.
- They ride in the window
- Add a photo and your child is at the wheel of whatever they have earned, from the bicycle up.
- Overrule us when we're wrong
- Turn on grown-up confirm and you decide whether a read counted. No speech recogniser is right every time.
- A leaderboard by grade
- This week or all time, kindergarten through fourth. First name and last initial only.
